August 22, 2010 Curry County Fair 2010

Another Curry County Fair has come and gone. I wanted to take lots of photographs this year; unfortunately I only went one evening with my serious camera and tripod. Here's an HDR from the east parking lot.

August 20, 2010 Summer 2010

A lot has happened since my last blog entry; I guess it's been over four months since an update... at least with the main content. I'm back from Asia, I have a nice photojournal of the trip on the aqua-blue corn link, have a look if you haven't already! Below is one of my favorite pics of the entire trip. It was taken at a government building in Tokyo, Japan just before the sun set. The colors are amazing!

I've been tinkering with WordPress a little. I'm setting up a test site for a client to see how easy/hard the process is. I'm interested in integrating a WordPress-type theme on my site. Unfortunately, I don't yet know how to make the seamless transition.. until then I'll just have to keep doing without comments and all that fancy biz.

April 12, 2010 Nuit Blanche

Digital artist Arev Manoukian's Nuit Blanche "explores a fleeting moment between two strangers, revealing their brief connection in a hyper real fantasy." Be sure to check out the the 'making of' video too! Good stuff! Link courtesy of Jarrod Arellano via FaceBook.

March 28, 2010 The Cove

The Cove was this year's winner of the Academy award for Best Documentary film. It beat out Food Inc. in the Academy's, which I spoke about a few weeks back, and friend of mine recommended it -- so I though I better give it a watch. It's a pretty chilling look at an unusual subject: show dolphins. Enough said, give it a try, tell 'em Flipper sent ya.

March 18, 2010 THE Coolest Guy in the WORLD!!

These are some sweet moves! Courtesy of Scott. Nice how he pads up for the 'dangerous' skateboarding stuff... Stop by his YouTube Channel for more of his unique flavor.

March 15, 2010 Skate Shite

RPO 3' Driveway Quarter Pipe Here's the Quarter on wheels now! Freakin' awesome for moving around!

RPO L-HD Launch Box And a finished shot of the RPO L-HD Launch Box. Both tutorials are coming soon to RPO. I'm re-doing the site as an all free mecca for skate ramp design. Hope I can pay the bills by ad support and donations... We shall see.

March 1, 2010 BUILDERS!

Just thinking today how crazy it is that 99% of our domestic world is designed by people who know nothing about design and care little, if any, about the end users of their product! DEVELOPERS!! BUILDERS!! You have no idea how much awesome design power you hold! And you care nothing of it...

In fact, I think if builders realized how much that GREEN homes are becoming appealing to consumers, they would jump head first into the movement. I know first hand that builders don't even use Energy Star rated appliances! They need to see that the small upgrades can set them apart from the competition. Think of 'housing' like cars: slam a bad-ass $400 stereo into a $25,000 car and it will sell better than the same car without the stereo. Houses are becoming so monotonous that an upgraded $800 dollar water heater will sell a home for $270,000!

Seems simple right?! What's the hold up...

February 28, 2010 RPO 3' Driveway Quarter Pipe

RPO 3' Driveway Quarter Pipe Here's the ramp. Skated it a bit this weekend. Gettin' better, gettin' better!
Still working away on the sequence for RPO.

February 24, 2010 accomplished

Been preoccupied with work lately, wanting to skate more. So done with the cold weather too! But, on the only bright side of the week (and crappy weather), I built a quarter pipe. It's the RPO 3' Quarter Pipe from my site. I documented the build over the weekend. If your interested in that kind of stuff you can have a peek at the design, and I'll post the pics soon!

February 21, 2010 yes, a jar of Kool-Aid

Kool AidTwisters Burrito Mmmmm..
a jar of Kool Aid
indulgence on a budget.

February 11, 2010 decisions...

I've got Brazil on the brain... just need money in the pocket now.

+ this cloudy weather really sucks...

January 28, 2010 Food Inc.

Food Inc. Just got done watching Food Inc. and I highly recommend you see it too. I really dislike Monsanto right now! And I'm seriously considering a highly vegetarian diet until I can find some trustworthy meat companies. I had no idea that basically the ENTIRE food industry is being run by a handful of companies. And I guess it comes as no surprise--though very disappointingly--that the people in Washington making all the decisions about food safety and food manufactering ethics are ex or current shareholders of the aformentioned food manufacterers. Boooo! Bad government for letting this conflict of interest occur; it's the same reason why the banks failed, and now our food industry will fail us too.

January 27, 2010 Obama

I though Obama's State of the Union went well. He sure is a smooth talker. It's always hard to watch the minority response, compared to Obama it's like watching a speech in a public speaking class. Obama just wants people to work together again, and to do the right things for the country. And for healthcare, he suggests to those who disagree to stand up and share their ideas about how to make it better, instead of just getting in the way of reform.

January 26, 2010 coding, coding..

Squared away the new layout for my photography section. With this site I've been learning and tweaking a new trick I learned that allows you to reveal content during a hover state that is NOT in the same location as the hover; and it's all done using CSS only. Web people get this, the rest of you I'm sure don't! But trust me, it's COOL, I'm glad I learned it. See what I mean, hover over one of the "gallery descriptions" in the photography section, or take a look up at the site header when you hover over a colored kernal of corn (that's your tongue twister for today).

January 25, 2010 javascript sucks! (but is cool!)

Got the photo gallery script all squared away this evening, God am I glad I'm not a programmer! I'm using a gallery from HighSlide that can be configured a bazillion different ways, check them out if your looking for a good image gallery or cool pop-up alternative. See the the new gallery in action right here.

Awesome site -- Web Urbanist. I just killed an hour of my life looking at random street art, and so can you!

January 24, 2010 Adios old Corn Banner

Grinding away on the 'cornbanner'. It's a bit tedious setting it all up the first go... should be a hassle only once though.

Congrats to the New Orleans Saints! Poor Favre couldn't hang in there but he's a fighter. Shout outs to Mr. Chavers; he's been a loyal fan through the thick and thin. February 7th is gonna be the day down in Miami!!

January 23, 2010 Numero Uno

This is the first blog entry on the new and improved, CSS based site! The old site was one of my very first websites and it relied heavily on tables for layout and Javascript for interactivity; thus making it difficult and tedious to update. I'm currently configuring a new image gallery; not sure if I'll keep the same 'image map' based navigation for the photos :/ -- we'll see.
